Synopsis

Cameroon, June 1986. One day, Rosa comes home from school and is introduced to Etienne, a 30-year-old man. Their wedding is organized soon after. Five years later, Rosa has five children and discovers that her husband has several wives. Domestic violence sets in between Rosa and Etienne. One day, Rosa leaves for Europe, destination Zürich. A long journey begins. Arriving in Switzerland, Rosa faces a reality much worse than she had imagined, it is the beginning of a new violence.

Background

By telling Rosa’s story, Abek’s message is to raise awareness about the reality of immigration. Throughout the film, the question of choice is omnipresent. When a person leaves his or her native country for another continent, is it for better or for worse? Rosa’s journey will allow the viewer to discover the answers to this question.
