Through the meadows: First wave of covid-19…

Synopsis

During the period of COVID-19, there were elderly people who were deemed to be at risk and who unfortunately had to be isolated almost drastically. So what happened in the MHEs during this period? How did the residents of the MHEs experience this situation and how did the care staff adapt to carry out their tasks? EMS La Chocolatière opens its doors and tells us about its experience.

Testimonials from members of the nursing staff, management and residents. You will discover how each one has adapted to the situation, how they have lived through it and what experiences they have drawn from it.

Background

Older people are most at risk with COVID-19 and some have had to be quarantined. In the social medical institutions where some elderly people spend long stays or even the end of their days, we wanted to show what had happened there and how the situation was experienced by the residents but also by the members of the nursing staff. The heart of the documentary, what we are trying to achieve, is the sensitivity, the empathy that the care staff showed to the residents by staying with them and taking care of them during this particular period that we lived and are still living through. It is true that there have been many unfortunate cases and less happy situations generated by COVID-19 but we simply want to show what went well by highlighting the positive to bring hope through the compassion present in the gestures of those who took care of the elderly.
